Steamboat Springs very own Get Fit Family Racing, focused on offering the community of Steamboat Springs “Family Friendly” events, has partnered with the Old Town Hot Springs Pool to bring you:

With a pool swim, rolling hill bike ride and mainly flat run course, this event is great for kids, beginners, triathletes in training and even seasoned competitors.

This special event serves athletes of all ages and abilities, enabling them to achieve their fitness goals in a stimulating, supportive and sociable environment. We are focused on the family and having fun while participating in and fostering a healthy lifestyle throughout the community of Steamboat Springs.

Thursday June 19th, VOLUNTEER Meeting 6:00pm – Old Town Hot Springs
– If you are interested in helping during the Triathlon stop by the Hot Springs for our 6:00pm meeting.  Volunteers will receive a T-Shirt, Subway Lunch

Friday June 20th, PRE RACE Racer Meeting 6:00pm – Old Town Hot Springs
– Learn everything you need to know about Saturdays Event and pick up your Registration Packet
– Registered athletes receive a Race Tech Shirt, Subway sandwich following your race, goodie bag

ADMISSION TO THE HOT SPRINGS:
– Athletes and families will receive admission to the Hot Springs to watch the Event.  If athletes/ families intend to use the facilities they may purchase a discounted ticket
– After 12 noon any athlete / family member who would like to use the Hot Springs Facility will need to purchase a discounted ticket for re-entry

Saturday June 21st, 2014

Registration/ Check-in opens at 6:00am                        
Table will be setup outside front door of Hot Springs

Transition opens at 6:00am / Athletes should check-in at least 1 hour prior to their Start Time as the Wave Starts will be fluid

TENTATIVE WAVE SCHEDULE:

7:30am                 Adult Competitive Wave Start
8:15am                  Adult Beginner/ First Timer Wave Start
9:30am                 Child 15-17 Age Group Wave Start
9:45am                 Child 12-14 and 9-11 Age Group Wave Start
10:15am                Child 6-8 Age Group Wave Start
10:45am               Child 4-5 Age Group Wave Start

SWIM Information:            
– We will be running 8 lanes at a time.  Each lane will have a Staff “lap counter” assigned to it to keep track of athlete laps.
– “8” Athletes will compete at a time during a “swim wave” – once the last athlete in that wave has cleared the pool we will line up our next wave.
– Athletes will exit pool and run past the Old Town Hot Springs “Hot Tub” area, up the stairs and exit into the upper Parking Lot.

Bike Information:               
– Athletes will exit the upper parking lot running their bikes under the bridge where they will then be able to mount.
– Athletes will take a left turn over the bridge toward the Tennis Courts, they will ride up the alley and turn out onto 3rd street to begin their ride.
– Ride distances will vary depending on Division entered.  Maps can be found on our website, www.getfitfamilyracing.com
– There will be signs, volunteers and Police/ Community Service Officers throughout the course to guide and direct athletes.

Run Information 
– After transitioning off bike athletes will once again exit the upper parking lot under the bridge where they will pick up the dirt path for a short period.
– Athletes will turn off the path onto Pine Street and continue on their run. Maps can be found on our website, www.getfitfamilyracing.com
– Once again there will be signs, volunteers and Police/Community Service Officers throughout the course to guide and direct athletes.

Transition:                            
– Transition will be located in the upper parking lot of the Hot Springs.

Parking:                
– The entire parking lot of the Hot Springs will be closed through 12:00 noon on Saturday June 21st
– Athletes should park at Wells Fargo Bank or Steamboat Springs High School

2014 Registration/ Kids & Adult Divisions

Several divisions will be available offering an unforgettable experience for all involved including:

KIDS DIVISION:

Our Kids Tri is a fun and challenging event for kids ages 4–17. Young athletes will swim, bike and run in this 3-event race that not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self confidence as they cross the finish line. A great introduction to the sport, we offer a pool swim in the Hot Springs lap pool followed by a safe bike and run on the local roads around the heart of Steamboat. The transition area will be in the parking lot and we strongly encourage friends and family to come cheer on these young competitors for one of the most inspiring spectator events in Steamboat.

Young triathletes will start in waves based on age.

Distances:

Division (ages 4-5)

  • 50 yard swim
  • 200 yard bike
  • 100 yard run

Division (ages 6-8)

  • 100 yard swim
  • 2 mile bike
  • 1 mile run

 Division (ages 9-11 and 12-14)

Division (ages 15-17)

*Relay Teams: Team up with two friends and race as a team. A relay is a great way to race if you do not want to participate in all three events.  Only one team member may participate in each event.

Cost:   $40 Children (For families, 2nd child $30, 3rd child $20, 4th child Free) Relay: $75.00

Includes:         T-Shirt, goodie-bag with sponsor coupons.   **Every child participating will receive an award

Adult Divisons & Distances:

Our adult divisions will offer 2 categories to choose from.  For our “First Timers” or Beginners you will begin with a 300 yard pool swim, transition to a 8 mile bike ride followed by a 2 mile run.  For our intermediate/ competitive division you will begin with a 400 yard swim, followed by an 10 mile bike, finishing with a 3 mile run.

“First Timer” – Beginner Division

Intermediate / Competitive Division:

*Relay Teams: Team up with two friends and race as a team. A relay is a great way to race if you do not want to participate in all three events.  Only one team member may participate in each event.

Cost:   $60.00  RELAY $95.00
